SAUSAGE KING ON A ROLL WITH HIS SIZZLING SUCCESS

a swag of trophies at the Regional Sausage King Competition, winning five out of six categories.

Mr Loveday said he was “over the moon” with the result which is the first step towards the national title.

“There’s a lot of pressure at nationals and regionals so I’m pretty tough on myself at this stage,” he said, adding his store had taken out first place at nationals last year.

“I’ve had a passion for it my whole life. I want to make sure it’s the best for the customers – our best herbs and spices go into it. (The sausages we make) are the same for judges as for the public.”

The Loveday’s Quality Meats owner said the key to his quality snags was the cuts of meat such as pork shoulder for their pork sausages, which was a soft meat.

He said he ensured “no gristly” bits made it into the sausages, despite them being traditionally made from offcuts and trimmings.
