P0 Box 1, Southport 4215 editorial@goldcoast.com.au facebook.com/goldcoastbulletin I WISH to thank the Gold Coast community for the support during our recent Memory Walk & Jog.

More than 470 people participated and raised a huge $13,000.

That money will be used to provide support to people living with dementia, their family and carers.

In the Gold Coast region some 9900 people are living with dementia and that figure is projected to increase to about 30,000 by 2050.

I’d like to acknowledge those who made this year’s event so successful. I’d also like to acknowledge the participants and volunteers who shared their personal reasons for taking part in the Gold Coast Memory Walk & Jog.

Thank you also to our major supporter Opal Aged Care, and our other supporters White Lady Funerals, Opals at Southbank, Songbirds Rainforest Retreat and Strike Bowling Bar.

Thank you also to our MC Mike Bennett and special guest Gold Coast Councillor Dawn Critchlow.

Planning has already begun for the next Gold Coast Memory Walk & Jog and we hope to be able to build on this year’s excellent result.

I AM truly sorry about the recent terrorist attacks, however, if we thought about it carefully, we’d realise the situation wouldn’t be so bad if we hadn’t let the evil Syrian and Russian regimes blow the hell out of Syrian civilians.

Because those terrorists are using it as an excuse. It is the same ignorance, negligence and complacency which cost the lives of 298 of us over Ukraine in July 2014.

Basically, it is the fault of the UN and NATO. And once again, our problems are partly due to the butcher dictator Vladimir Putin.

News programs should stop giving him and his sick friend Assad legitimacy through those ridiculous interviews.

We are just too arrogant to face up to the truth. If those terrorists had any brains and guts at all, they would target Russia instead of us.

Finally, regarding bail laws, I am like Malcolm Turnbull. I’ve had just about enough of hardcore criminals and terrorists committing violent crimes while on bail.

Protect the community, lock them up, build more jails and kick out all the foreign ones. If it was up to me, the death penalty would be soon reintroduced.

A poor Queensland police officer recently lost his life due to what I’d deemed to be a terrorist being out in the community.

Judges and juries should be made accountable for crimes committed by offenders while on bail.

ENJOYING the peace and serenity of a new country by any family is an honour, rather than being in some war-torn hellhole.

Perhaps if terrorists understood that if legislation were in place that allowed the whole family to be returned “home” after a terrorist act by one of their own, then those hot heads may then consider not only their position but those of their beloved family.

They destroy many a family, why should they be exempt?
