FIFITA THE METRE-EATER WANTS TOP PROP TITLE

-

TO be the best, you’ve got to beat the best.

Andrew Fifita can prove he’s the No.1 forward in the NRL by dethroning 2016 Dally M prop of the year Jesse Bromwich in tonight’s grand final rematch against Melbourne at Shark Park.

In what shapes as the heavyweight clash of the season, Fifita’s premiershipwinning Sharks will chase a third consecutive victory over Bromwich’s Storm.

Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan said tonight’s game would provide his 124kg spearhead with the platform to realise his ambition of becoming the NRL’s best forward.

“Andrew wanted to get back into the Test team and he wanted to play for NSW and he’s done those two things,” Flanagan said.

“I know he wants to continue playing for NSW, and Andrew has a real desire to be the best prop in the game and he’s up against a fair one in Jesse Bromwich.

“Andrew is really excited about that because last year Jesse probably was the best prop in the game. Andrew has a bit of a bee in his bonnet to be the best prop in the game. I don’t know if he is (yet), but I’m glad he’s in my team.

“The challenge for Andrew and the challenge for all players is to do it consistently for long periods of time. I’ve got no doubt he can be.”
