WALLACE’S BIG MANTRA TO DISMANTLE BLUES

- EMMA GREENWOOD

THE bigger they are, the harder they fall.

That is Jarrod Wallace’s mantra as he prepares to face a monster NSW pack in his Queensland debut next Wednesday.

Wallace gives away height and weight to every one of his Blues rivals but is undaunted about the challenge.

Andrew Fifita, David Klemmer and Aaron Woods ran for a combined 501m in Game One, more than the entire Queensland starting pack combined.

They tore the heart out of the Maroons and forced mass changes for Game Two, something that should have a debutant like Wallace shaking in his boots.

But the Titans frontrower is champing at the bit to take the trio on.

“I think they’re all a bit different,” he said.

“Klemmer’s a big body who runs straight and hard, Fifita’s got some good footwork, Woodsy’s got a good offload, so I think it’s all a bit different.

“I’ll just prepare to play my game and whoever runs at me, I’ll go from there.

“I’m not too worried about how big they are.”

Wallace, who beat a judiciary charge on Tuesday night to earn his spot in the team, opened up about the emotional rollercoaster he’s faced this week.

“My face just dropped,” Wallace said of his reaction at finding out at a Titans team barbecue he had been charged by the NRL’s match review committee for his hit on New Zealand centre Blake Ayshford.

“I remember looking over Neil (Titans coach Neil Henry) and he shook his head and said: ‘It’s all right, we’ll deal with it tomorrow’.

“I wasn’t in the mood (to be there) and got home and was sitting on the couch and that was when Kevvie rang.”
