KING, BOYLE FACE BIG CHALLENGE

-

YOUNG Titans Max King and Morgan Boyle face possibly the biggest challenge of their fledgling NRL careers tonight when the Gold Coast take on St George Illawarra in a bid to keep their finals hopes alive.

The Dragons boast one of the most potent packs in the league despite the absence of form prop Paul Vaughan and the Titans need to arrest their go-forward if they are to claim a vital win.

It will take a big effort form every member of the Titans pack, including young guns King and Boyle, who both made their NRL debuts this year and have just 17 games between them.

Coach Neil Henry knows the pair are still developing but needs them to play a role tonight if the Titans are to keep their slim finals hopes alive.

“Everything’s experience for those young guys but we’ve got to step up and play, don’t we?” Henry said.

“It’s a game that we need to win in the context of where we are and it’s going to be a good challenge for us.”

The Titans nabbed Boyle from the Raiders when he was still in the under-20 ranks and are in a pitched battle with several clubs to sign the man mountain.

The club has already stitched up King until the end of 2019 and while he remains eligible for under-20s this season, he is starting to forge an NRL career, having started in two games as the Titans battle an injury crisis.

Henry said tonight’s match presented a big challenge for the Titans forwards. “The Dragons have been very good in the forwards,” he said.
