Marathon next level for Candice

-

FORMER ironwoman Candice Warner says completing the Gold Coast Marathon is on another level to the infamously gruelling Coolangatta Gold surf life saving endurance race.

“It was a lot harder,” the 32year-old said at the finish after a kiss from husband Dave Warner, the Australian cricket team vice-captain.

“The (30km) Coolangatta Gold is hard but I had done it my whole life and you can get a little bit of help with the surf.”

She said she hit her pain barrier after 32km. “It was just me and the road,” she said.

“The good thing was I didn’t have any expectations, but at about the 32km mark I really felt it and I had to work a lot more than I wanted too.”

She said she wasn’t sure if she’d back up her solid time of 3hr 46min next year.

“It might be one of those where you say it’s been done once, but I could get the bug.”
