THE Attorney-General says Coolangatta is welcome to join the new ID scanning regime.

Coolangatta bar bosses fear ending up with problem patrons barred from Surfers and Broadbeach.

Attorney-General Yvette D’Ath said they could “opt in”.

“Any licensed venue can choose to install new networked ID scanners,” she said.

But Coolangatta Liquor Accord’s Tony Cannon said SNPs get funding for scanners, networked radios and CCTV. “That is what we are seeking for Coolangatta,” he said.
