JARROD Wallace has swapped his Titans jersey for a purple Animal Welfare League of Queensland shirt after signing up as an AWLQ ambassador.

The State of Origin star said he was keen to get involved after seeing the work done at the charity’s Coombabah shelter.

“I visited AWLQ about a month ago and was so impressed by what a great job everyone does there,” Mr Wallace said.

“Knowing how important AWLQ’s works with animals is, I was really pleased when I was asked to put my name to their important cause.”

AWLQ communications and public relations manager Karen Farrell said they were excited to have the prop on board.

“He’s fantastic, he’s at the top of his game, pardon the pun,” she said.

“We are so thrilled ... he’s a great ambassador for us.”

Mr Wallace said his family had always had pet dogs and birds and he continued this tradition with his own pets.

Mr Wallace owns two oneyear-old Golden Retrievers called Maggie and Floyd.
