Stonefish still at large

NO reopening date has been set for Evandale Lake in Bundall despite efforts to find an elusive stonefish proving unsuccessful.

The council is also still talking to marine experts about how to catch and relocate the highly venomous fish.

The lake has been closed for more than a week after a member of public filmed a video of the stonefish in the water.

A council spokesman yesterday confirmed no reopening date had been set. Barriers and ‘no swimming’ signs remain in place around the lake.
