‘Scammer’ gained $1.3m
A GOLD Coast mother accused of playing a role in a $30 million cold calling scam will no longer be required to report to police while on bail.
During an application to vary the bail of Tamika Ruth Simpson in the Southport Magistrates Court yesterday, it was revealed the mother-oftwo children is alleged to have personally gained $1.3 million from a boiler room scam allegedly operated on the Coast.
Defence lawyer Campbell MacCallum said Simpson worked as a personal assistant and earned $55 per hour during the time she was allegedly involved in with the company in question. “Her involvement is, at its best, minimal,” he said.
