JPL hits Spit of trouble at meeting

-

SURFERS Paradise MP JohnPaul Langbroek has come under fire from Main Beach residents for refusing to support retaining the three-storey height limit on the Spit if the LNP win government.

The senior opposition frontbencher yesterday spoke to more than 100 people at a fundraiser held by anti-development campaigners at Tedder Ave.

Mr Langbroek used the address to say the LNP would back a “community driven” masterplan. However when attendees at the lunch grilled Mr Langbroek over whether he supported the three-storey height limit he refused to be drawn on the issue.

Meanwhile, prominent developer and former councillor Norm Rix used his speech at the event to propose his own vision for The Spit. Mr Rix and fellow attendees announced plans for a design competition worth $20,000 to create a masterplan for the area.
