Nets fall on stonefish

-

OPERATION Stonefish will enter into its second phase this morning when giant nets are submerged in the Evandale Lake at Bundall.

The Gold Coast City Council will sink the nets for 24 hours in an effort to catch the potentially deadly stonefish spotted in the lake.

Attempts to catch the fish, including sending divers from Sea World into the lake, have been unsuccessful.

The lake will remain closed until the stonefish is captured.

The netting is expected to take about seven days.

If the netting is unsuccessful the council will devise a new plan to capture the rogue creature.
