Wallace is made for Kangaroos

-

MATT Gillett believes former Broncos teammate Jarrod Wallace can go from bench player to Origin to the Kangaroos, as the pair prepare to meet in Saturday’s derby clash.

Brisbane’s forward pack has labelled Titan Wallace as one of their biggest threats for the showdown following the young prop’s standout season.

Wallace left Brisbane at the end of last year, after three seasons as a regular off the bench.

Since he joined the Gold Coast, he has flourished as a player, starring as one of the club’s best forwards and earning his Queensland State of Origin debut.

But Gillett said even though the Titans could no longer make the finals, he believed Wallace still had plenty to prove, especially with the World Cup in October.

“If he continues to play the quality football he’s been doing so far, there’s no reason he wouldn’t be in the mix for an Australian jersey,” Gillett admitted.

“Jarrod just has to focus on what he can do. He can’t get too far ahead of himself.

“That’s probably the reason he did move, to cement a starting spot and show what he can do. It was a big move for him.

“Obviously he would have loved to have stayed here but it was a big decision and one I’m sure he’s pretty happy with.”
