January 5, 2017: The first mention of concern around Hayne’s pre-season training emerge, with the Titans squad to determine if he’ll be included in the leadership group. February 7: Hayne raises eyebrows by hinting he may try his hand at rugby in Europe. March 4: Reports Hayne fined by his teammates for a lackadaisi­cal approach to training over the summer. March 5: Hayne’s “loose lips sinks (sic) ships” tweet pours fuel on the fire. Hints at the explanatio­n later given for his absence from a recovery session — that he was in Sydney receiving treatment.

April 25: Reports of an approach made by Hayne’s representa­tives to Parramatta for possible return next season. Follows a similar move made to the Roosters earlier.

May 31: Hayne returns to the Origin arena as NSW towel up the Maroons. Deadline to take up the second-year option on his $2.4 million Titans deal expires at midnight, and Hayne remains coy on his future. July 12: Hayne plays his 23rd Origin as NSW lose 22-6.

August 5: Titans hit the skids with 54-0 loss to Brisbane following a defeat to the Tigers.

August 7-11: All manner of claims made around Hayne’s influence at the Titans as Neil Henry cops serious heat about his hold on the playing group.

August 12: Hayne says he is willing to walk away if Henry doesn’t want him. Hayne claims he and the coach haven’t spoken for a week as the Coast slump to a 42-16 loss to the Dragons.

August 13: Titans say Henry and Hayne to front the board. Yesterday: Club adjourns decision, saying it needs more time.
