IT’S LORDE ALMIGHTY AT MTV AWARDS

-

SHOCKS, frilly frocks and jocks all graced the red carpet for yesterday’s MTV Video Music Awards with some not so subtle messages and serious amounts of cleavage on show.

New Zealander Lorde normally keeps her look cool and grungy, but she had fashion critics puzzled when she chose the low-key event to hit the accelerator on glam. She arrived in a lilac Monique Lhuillier gown more suited to the Oscars.

Nicki Minaj looked like the love child of the Pink Panther and Catwoman in a pink latex jumpsuit. And while Kesha received kudos for her emotional speech, her layered tulle dress was not well reviewed.

Supermodel and TV personality Heidi Klum showed off her svelte figure in a revealing Peter Dundas number. But she was slightly overshadowed by her America’s Got Talent co-star Mel B who, fans suggested, was sending a message to her ex-husband Stephen Belafonte in a sequin gown saying: “You will never own me”.

Suicide Squad star Jared Leto and his technicoloured dream coat also brought out some serious bling.

It was shocks all round, with girl of the moment Paris Jackson a fashion winner in Dior, wearing briefs under a sheer dress. Victoria’s Secret angel Alessandra Ambrosio, actor and singer Hailee Steinfeld and Australia’s own Renee Bargh also rocked their red carpet looks.
