THE Department of Industry, Innovation and Science Eureka Prize for Science Journalism was awarded to the two part documentary Becoming Superhuman.
The documentary details how biomedical engineer Dr Jordan Nguyen created cutting-edge technology to enable 13-year-old Riley Saban, who has cerebral palsy, to do things he had previously been unable to do, such as switch on a light, operate a TV and even drive a car.

DR Madhu Bhaskaran, an RMIT University Associate Professor, won the Macquarie University Eureka Prize for Outstanding Early Career Researcher. Her work is leading to the development of unbreakable wearable electronic devices such as electronic skin patches that can warn when the wearer has been exposed to too much sun or patches that can detect dangerous gases in mines.
