Rose Paterson, 11, makes some new friends at the annual Tamborine Mountain Scarecrow Festival.

THESE are some of the craziest scarecrows you will ever see.

From SpongeBob Square Pants and Alice in Wonderland to Borobi and Ned Kelly, Tamborine Mountain residents went all out for the 10th annual Scarecrow Festival.

Organisers said everyone on the mountain was encouraged to make a scarecrow and display it on the ‘Spot the Scarecrow Discovery Trail’ or in front of their homes and businesses.

Rose Paterson, 11, said she enjoyed travelling up the mountain every year to visit family and check out the scarecrows.

“It’s really fun and you can see just how much effort everybody puts into them,” she said.

“My favourite was probably Alice in Wonderland but there was also really cool Pirates of the Caribbean scarecrows of Captain Jack Sparrow and his crew.

“It’s a really big community event and it’s cool because it’s not something you normally see on the Gold Coast.

“Plus I think this year’s scarecrows were better than last year’s.”

With the scarecrow trail spanning 17km, it is one of the largest events held on the mountain.

Visitors also enjoyed live music, face painting, pig racing, a farm animal petting zoo, pony rides and bubble soccer as part of the event.
