Fat chance for seats
FAT football fans are being offered extra-large seats at next year’s World Cup finals.
To qualify, they have to provide evidence, such as a doctor’s note, confirming obesity.
It is thought to be the first time seats at a major sporting event have been made bigger because of obesity issues.
Tickets for the tournament in Russia went on sale last week, but supporters hoping to get a larger seat simply for reasons of comfort will find themselves disappointed.
Those demanding bigger seats will have to show tournament organisers that they have a BMI of 35 or above, the equivalent of a 178cm person weighing about 114kg.
