Clown fad causes fear
POLICE are warning of a social media-inspired clown craze after a teenage girl was chased and grabbed by three people wearing clown masks on Saturday night.
In an incident thought to be inspired by the release of Stephen King’s It, 16-year-old Rastana Baker claims she was scratched on the neck after pulling away when she was grabbed by a person in a clown mask in Perth.
The teenager said she had been walking to a friend’s house about 7.15pm when a car stopped behind her and three people got out wearing clown masks and dark clothing.
“I didn’t want to look back a second time but I could tell they were behind me when I heard them laughing,” Rastana said. “When I did turn around I saw the wigs and clown faces.”
She said the incident left her scared to go out at night
