Attacker on loose

POLICE were last night continuing to search for a machetewielding man who attacked a woman by hacking at her leg in Labrador yesterday.

Police, detectives and the dog squad searched Cos Zantiotis Playing Fields near the intersection of Olsen Ave and Brisbane Rd at Arundel after the midday attack.

The injured woman was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Police believe the woman was attacked while crossing a bridge over Biggera Creek near the Labrador Lions AFL Sports Club. Police believe the pair may know each other.

After the attack a second woman reportedly chased the man. Officers were yesterday searching nearby bushland frequented by the homeless.
