Bomb scare halts traffic

A BOMB scare left thousands of drivers stranded on a British motorway at the weekend, the second such incident in less than a week.

Some cars were trapped for nearly 12 hours after “potential hazardous material” was found by a footbridge on the M3 near Winchester. A Royal Navy bomb disposal truck was later pictured at the scene.

Bored motorists took to playing golf and walking their dogs on the motorway verge, while children used the carriageway as a playground.

The M3 was eventually reopened but details of what was found were still unknown.
