BRAVO Commonwealth Bank — credit (excuse the pun) where credit is due.
The under-fire institution broke the mould at the weekend and introduced what it aptly described as a “welcome change” to scrap ATM withdrawal fees.
Not surprisingly, by Sunday, big banks Westpac and then ANZ fell into line and followed suit.
The move is set to save Australians $500 million a year.
But it was a repugnant charge in the first place. A typical but long-hated banking system ploy to revenue-gather off customers who were always just doing what they should have been entitled do to without charge: access their own dough.
