Walk offers taste of Coast history

A NEW, interactive 10km historic Commonwealth Walkway has opened highlighting historic and scenic parts of the Gold Coast.

Mayor Tom Tate yesterday took part in the walk, which begins at the Southport chambers and ends at the council chambers in Bundall.

The walkway is the first of its kind outside of the UK, incorporating 37 bronze markers along each section.

“Each marker includes a piece of history on the city and inside the passport is a question about each location,” Cr Tate said.

“Once you’ve answered all the questions, you present your completed passport at our Customer Service Centre and you’ll receive a certificate.”
