CRISAFULLI DIPS HIS TOES INTO ISLAND LIFE

- ANDREW POTTS

THERE’S only one question on most voters’ minds – when is the Queensland election being called?

The poll is tipped to be called by Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk as early as today but one Gold Coast candidate has hit the hustings early in a bid to get an advantage.

LNP Broadwater candidate David Crisafulli yesterday got out of the Gold Coast and across the water to South Stradbroke Island where he met voters and residents.

And the feedback he got was that locals wanted to know when they had to go to the polls.

“People just want this election called because they know it is imminent,” he said.

“They just want their say and they should be given it.

“It was great to visit around 40 houses over here and it took a bit of bush bashing at times but I got there.”

Ms Palaszczuk yesterday poured cold water over the idea of an imminent visitor to Government House, saying more work was needed to be done. The latest the election can be held is May next year but it is widely expected to be called for a date in late October or mid-November.

It will be the final poll before set four-year terms begin.
