THE VILLAGE WORKS

WORKS are now underway to transform the $550 million Parklands project at Southport into the Games Village, after Monday’s official handover from the Queensland Government to GOLDOC.

More than 6000 workers helped build the development which will become a home away from home for 6600 athletes and team officials from across the Commonwealth.

The project included 1252 dwellings including one and two bedroom apartments and three bedroom townhouses. After the Games, the Parklands will transform into an urban housing precinct.
