Pole crash toll on ribs

A WOMAN whose car collided with a light pole in Surfers Paradise is recovering from five broken ribs.

Speaking from her hospital bed yesterday, she clarified she hadn’t hit any other cars before the accident on Ferny Ave about 8.50am on Tuesday.

It was one of five crashes before midday on a wet morning as kids returned to school.

The woman, who declined to give her name, said she believed her brakes failed and she managed to avoid two other vehicles before coming to a stop when hitting the pole.
