CATON A FAN OF COAST’S QUALITIES

- KRISTY MUIR

“HOW’S the serenity?”

It may be one of actor Michael Caton’s iconic quotes from The Castle but it’s how he feels about the Gold Coast.

Caton says it is no laughing matter that the Gold Coast is a top tourist destination and has become a location hotspot to film international blockbusters.

“I just think the Gold Coast has (so much to offer). You’ve got the hinterland, beaches, the islands, and the whole highrise cosmopolitan aspect to it,” he told the Bulletin.

“It’s such a fantastic location – you can shoot anything here.”

Caton, a proud Queenslander now residing in Sydney, is on the Coast to promote his new film Three Summers at the opening of the Australian International Movie Convention.

“I used to hang out here,” Caton said yesterday.

“In my younger days the Surfers Paradise Beer Garden was the place to be.

“Also the place to get your head bashed in.

“But later on I really loved Greenmount, Kirra and all that area because it was such great surf.”

Caton was joined at The Star Gold Coast by Three Summers director Ben Elton who also can’t get enough of the Glitter Strip.

“I have holidayed here,” he said.

Three Summers is in cinemas on November 2.
