VERY proud but somewhat embarrassed is Women in Racing’s co-founder Jennifer Bartels. The reason for the mixed emotions is her inclusion in Shane McNally’s new book The Sport of Queens which details the role of women in Australian horse racing. “Shane said it was to honour my contribution but I’m with the likes of Gai Waterhouse and Michelle Payne so I do feel a bit self-conscious.” We say it is well deserved especially for her contribution to racing fashion and charity.
