Health sector Games winner
HEALTH is poised to be the biggest winner from next year’s Commonwealth Games as the State Government pushes for new trade opportunities in the Asia Pacific region.
Health Minister Cameron Dick attended yesterday’s meeting of the Queensland Health and Investment Advisory Committee on the Coast to learn first-hand of investment opportunities. The meeting of medical heavy-hitters occurs against a backdrop of the Going for Gold Symposium which this month will explore potential legacies from the event.
“There is no better opportunity to showcase that Queenshealth land is open for business and to demonstrate that our worldclass health industry is prime for both investment and export than next year’s Commonwealth Games,” Mr Dick said.
The council includes leaders in medical research to services delivery, innovation, aged care services and product development.
“We’re examining target markets and areas of relative competitive advantage, and we’re looking at focus areas for commercialisation and export readiness capability development, and more,” Mr Dick said. The Going for Gold Legacy Symposium is being hosted by News Corp Australia, Gold Coast Bulletin and Sky News Australia on October 31 at the Marriott Resort Surfers Paradise. It is a three-hour breakfast brunch event, with tickets $80 per person or $720 per table of 10. For more information go to: goldcoastbulletin.com.au/goingforgold
