Thrive in a buzzing office without the big outlay

-

START-UPS and small businesses chasing the collaborative energy of an office, without the massive outlay, have a new alternative on the Tweed.

Co-working venue Profit Spaces has launched a new facility, backed by the Gold Coast Hub up the highway, which is bringing together innovators, mentors and $60 million of potential funding.

Profit Spaces co-founder Rossco Paddison said the venue was launched in response to a growing trend towards working remotely or online, coupled with the ongoing desire to be inspired and motivated by others.

“Co-working spaces allow business owners and consultants to get inspired as they feed off the drive and inspiration of other success-oriented people around them,” he said.

“The environment provides a laser-sharp focus for business activity, with less distractions than, say, in a home office setup, but the priceless advantage is the potential to explore innovative ideas and joint venture or partnership opportunities with a dynamic network of new co-workers and entrepreneurs.”

Profit Spaces provides members with high-speed internet and printing, and access to a 110-seat events theatre and audio recording studio. Mr Paddison said the venue’s location and pricing set it apart.

“Most business owners I know drink at least two cups of coffee a day, which is more than the cost of renting a hot desk at Profit Spaces,” he said.

As revealed in the Bulletin, Gold Coast Hub will be built in the former Billabong factory at Burleigh Heads. It’s an initiative lead by acclaimed software firm Opmantek.

Opmantek general manager Sharon Hunneybell said the Tweed facility would complement the Burleigh hub.
