STABBINGS IN THE PAST THREE MONTHS

1. November 7, 9.35am, Nerang: Man, 20, allegedly stabbed in the side during an argument at a Mylor St home. A 15-year-old girl was arrested and charged.

2. November 6, 7.20pm, Southport: Man, 25, stabbed multiple times in the stomach at James Overall Park on Brighton Pde. Victim presented himself to hospital, but not co-operating with police. Investigat­ions continuing.

3. October 2, 6.30pm, Nerang: Man, 31, stabbed in the arm and stomach at a Dargo St home. Investigat­ions continuing.

4. August 27, 3.30pm, Surfers Paradise: Man, 29, allegedly stabbed in the neck at bar during the screening of a boxing match. A 24-year-old man was arrested and charged.

5. August 17, 12.30pm, Biggera Waters: A female retail worker was allegedly stabbed in the hip at a supermarke­t. A 45-year-old man was arrested and charged. A FIFTEEN-year-old girl has been charged after allegedly stabbing a man in Nerang during a domestic dispute.

It was the second stabbing on the Gold Coast within 24 hours after a 25-year-old man was stabbed multiple times at a Southport park on Monday night.

In the past three months, there have been five stabbings across the Coast, a number that Bond University criminolog­ist Terry Goldsworth­y said was in line with an increase in violent crime across the region.

Offences against the person have spiked 24 per cent in the last financial year.

The category includes offences such as unlawful woundings, robberies, assault, sexual offences, murder, kidnapping and extortion.

Robberies and assaults, which inlcude stabbings, were up by 33 (248) and 26 (2960) per cent respective­ly.

In the past three months 143 offences against the person were recorded in the Gold Coast Police District.

“Offences of violence are up ... and following a (rising) trend,” Mr Goldsworth­y said. “It’s not a good trend.” Acting Superinten­dent Greg Baade said a 15-yearold girl was charged with one count of unlawful wounding and wilful damage after allegedly stabbing a man
