Charges after crash

THREE men escaped serious injury after a a car collided with a tree on Lyrebird Ridge Rd at Springbrook.

The vehicle caught fire in the crash just after midnight yesterday but the three men were able to flee the scene.

They were tracked down by police a short distance away and taken into custody

A 19-year-old Currumbin man has been charged with a count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, assault whilst in company, drink driving and obstruct police.

Another 19-year-old Coolangatta man has been charged with dangerous operation of motor vehicle and assault whilst in company.

A third 19-year-old Nerang man has not been charged with any offence but investigations are continuing.
