Boost for veterans
THOUSANDS more veterans will get half-price public transport and hundreds will be guaranteed public service jobs under a re-elected Labor Government, Annastacia Palaszczuk will announce today.
Ahead of Remembrance Day tomorrow, Ms Palaszczuk is announcing a suite of measures targeted at veterans.
Currently the transport discount applies to 35,000 Department of Veterans Affairs gold card holders, who have injuries resulting in total and permanent incapacity.
Under the policy, it will be expanded to the 19,000 DVA white card holders under 64 – those who have war or servicerelated injuries or disease.
Also included is $1.5 million to build and renovate war monuments, and a special liaison officer to help ADF families who are relocated for work connect with local services.
