HIKE HAS BIG WOW FACTOR

-

LET’S just call this the Wowee Circuit.

Technically, it’s Springbrook’s Warrie Circuit, but I think we can all agree on the name change.

This hike takes you up and down cliffs on gentle paths, underneath waterfalls, down to serene pools, through pristine rainforest and affords endless, amazing views.

Just be warned: your legs will get as good a workout as your eyes.

At 17km, the track is long and much is uphill, but the path itself is relatively easy with lots of switchbacks.

Parking at the Tallanbana picnic area, you can take the track either clockwise or counterclockwise.

If you want more places to rest, opt for the latter as more of the views will be on your way uphill – giving you an excuse to stop.

Not that the way down isn’t scenic. First you will pass through Twin Falls and then Rainbow Falls before reaching the valley floor, where it’s a relaxing walk past yet another three waterfalls.

With a hike this long, it’s essential to pack plenty of water – and food. The best place to eat it is the Meeting of the Waters, the pool where all watercourses draining the canyon meet.

Going back up to the top of the cliff is a fairly easy path but it is continuously uphill. The four falls on the way, each off short side tracks, provide excuses to stop and rest.

At the top of the cliffs are three great lookouts over the valley – on a clear day you can see as far as the Gold Coast.

It’s well worth the effort to get there, just remember, access to Springbrook is currently via Pine Creek Road.
