Belcher top of the Bond class again
OLYMPIC sailing dual medallist Mathew Belcher has been crowned Sportsman of the Year for the third time at the Bond University Blues Awards.
Belcher was last night presented as joint winner of the gong alongside this year’s Sportswoman of the Year, kayak champion Erin Blanch.
The annual awards celebrate sporting achievements of student athletes and clubs.
“Although it’s been another very busy year for me, competing in Europe and Japan, I’ve really enjoyed being around campus a lot more and am looking forward to graduating early next year,” said Belcher, who also won in 2013 and 2016.
Olympian, general manager of the Australian Swimmers Association, Beyond Blue ambassador and Bond alumnus Daniel Kowalski was the compere for the night.
