HOW TO BE TESTED FOR BOWEL CANCER

● Men and women over 50 are recommende­d to get a checkup every two years.

● Some symptoms include blood in bowel movements, a recent change in bowel habits, stomach discomfort, frequent gas, pain and weight loss.

● Screening kits cost around $40 and can be bought from chemists.

● The test involves placing a special card in small amounts of toilet water or stool.

● Once completed, mail the kit to the return address provided.

● If needed, you will be advised to see a doctor.
