The Gold Coast Bulletin - - NEWS - TUGUN BOWLS AND COMMUNITY CLUB:

Half a century after being set up by an enthusiastic band of volunteers, the founders would be bowled over by what this club is today.

Membership steadily increased through the 1970s and in 1986 the club was extensively renovated.

Both pokies and a board of management were installed in 1994. However, the real boon came in 2002 when rival club Palm Beach closed its doors and Tugun instantly gained an extra 300 members.

The club has undergone numerous facelifts in the time since but has never lost its sense of community values.

To celebrate, a day of bowls will be played by clubs from across the Gold Coast on Saturday from 9am until 3.30pm with all welcome to come and watch or pop in for a drink.
