The Gold Coast Bulletin - - OPINION -

is an open letter to the Gold Coast City Council Mayor and his follow Councillors.

Now is the right time for most of you to have a change of heart regarding the recent somewhat less than transparent deal made with the Gold Coast Turf Club regarding the Black Swan Lake.

Do the right thing regarding the lake and make your kids and grandkids proud of your legacy.

This lake is a place of peace for people and wildlife.

Those of you who insist on assuaging their guilt by calling it a “borrow pit” should look around this city and count up all the other “borrow pits” here, starting with

the canals which are now the most desirable residential addresses.

As a council you have great power over the many that have made Black Swan Lake their home.

Remember as George Bernard Shaw succinctly put it: “Progress is impossible without change and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.”

And also as Theodore Roosevelt said: “The government is us; we are the government, you and I.” ANNETTE & CHRIS SCHNACK, PIMPAMA
