MALCOLM Turnbull’s appearance at the LNP knees up campaign launch was more like the boy trying to plug holes in the dyke.
With his problems on the national scene his appearance in Queensland would have been better spent on his own turf.
One can only hope the gentle folk in the Sunshine State wake up from their long sleep and realise the LNP haven’t got the answers to keep this state afloat. D.J. FRASER, CURRUMBIN
I REFER to Robyn Aydon’s letter (GCB, 17/11).
Every resident within the Surfers Paradise electorate, including the new areas following the redistribution, has been sent a community survey from me asking for their priorities for our area.
I’ve also been on the ground for years listening to residents and community groups about their thoughts for our area. Overwhelmingly, the response has been supportive of a cruise ship terminal for the Gold Coast.
I’m listening to every resident, not just a single group. I’ll always support job creating projects that
stack up economically, environmentally and have community support. I made my position, and that of the LNP very clear when I agreed to speak at the Main Beach Association’s event which raised funds for their organisation just a few months ago.
I’ve also asked a question on notice on behalf of the MBA and corresponded regularly via email – where I have again reiterated my position. The MBA must have a short memory if they can’t remember what my position is. JP LANGBROEK, LNP FOR SURFERS PARADISE
LONG-term Gold Coast Turf Club member, please revisit Black Swan Lake and update your recollection.
The transformation from your remembered cesspool will astound you. Today it is a beautiful gem of nature in the middle of suburbia – a place I frequent nearly every day. KAREN MCCARTHY, CARRARA
THE LNP understands the importance of delivering the right schools to the right regions of Queensland. It is why we built 11 schools when we were last in office.
Annastacia Palaszczuk’s lastminute cash splash for Queensland schools won’t make up for three years of Labor inaction.
Those living on the Gold Coast can’t trust this do-nothing Labor Government when it comes to delivering new schools.
This week Labor cobbled together an announcement for new schools, which shows a lack of planning for this state’s future education needs. These big spending announcements are trying to cover up Ms Palaszczuk’s poor campaign.
Ms Palaszczuk has delivered just one school in three years and she is now trying to spend her way out of an election hole.
In contrast, the LNP has promised to reinstate the School Planning Commission to ensure future schools are delivered in the right places for the right reasons. SAM O’CONNOR LNP CANDIDATE FOR BONNEY
GATEKEEPERS at Liberal Party headquarters have obviously been asleep on the job having allowed large numbers of progressive leftleaners to infiltrate the ranks.
Some have gone on to become even cabinet ministers and dare I suggest, higher?
Security needs to be tightened and if necessary, administration could call upon GetUp to vet for a satisfactory degree of conservatism for future aspirants. GRAGRA, HOPE ISLAND
TO ALL you LNP MPs who thought replacing Tony Abbott with the egotistical Malcolm Turnbull would keep you in power, your decision is going to backfire.
God help us when Shorten and the unions get into power … PHIL, CARRARA
COULD politicians fund a study to develop a plan similar to the Snowy Mountain Scheme to harvest rain water from the Queensland’s east coast and send the water inland?
This may be able to be achieved by building super dams along the state’s east. And incorporate power generators to help supply extra energy for Queensland.
This would be great infrastructure – great for jobs and great for the future of this state.
Would be a win for everyone. PETER DELANEY
