QCup back to old days

-

COVERAGE of the Queensland Cup is set for a shake-up with televised games to return to a Saturday timeslot in a throwback to when the second-tier rugby league competition was aired on the ABC.

While Channel Nine will continue as the broadcaster, games are next year likely to be shown on free-to-air in a 1pm timeslot on Saturdays.

This year, the televised match of the round kicked off at 1.40pm on Sundays.

Talks are under way about broadcasting some games on Fox Sports as curtain-raisers to NRL fixtures, filling the void of the now-defunct under-20 National Youth Competition. – CONNOR O’BRIEN
