Johnson’s quick tip to trio

-

MITCHELL Johnson has provided Australia’s quicks with the blueprint to crush England.

Johnson phoned spearhead Mitchell Starc this week to discuss his incredible efforts in the 2013-14 Ashes which led to Australia’s 5-0 whitewash.

Johnson claimed 37 wickets in an onslaught of terrifying fast bowling which thrust England cricket into crisis. Now he is ready to pass the baton on to the next generation who will launch a new era in today’s first Test at the Gabba.

Johnson believes Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins and Starc are a faster trio than his combination with Ryan Harris and Peter Siddle in 2013-14.

“Pace-wise they have us covered from the last Ashes in Australia,” he said.

“They are in a great position. They have played a bit of cricket together. The guys know each other really well, which is really important being in a bowlers’ cartel.

“They can definitely (rattle England). Patty Cummins can bowl 150km/h. We know Starcy will get in their faces and rattle a few guys. It’s about using those tactics that are really important in the game.

“I called Starcy to have a quick chat with him about all that stuff. I want to see a good contest but I want to see that intimidation from Australia.”
