TURNS out there is a downside to being really, really ridiculously good looking.

Since he rose to national fame on The Bachelorette, Gold Coast performer Jake Spence – aka Apollo Jackson – has become used to being treated like a piece of meat.

So when it came to getting his shirt off for the Bulletin, there was no hesitation.

“That’s every shoot lately,” he said, laughing.

“I was down in Sydney recently and they were like ‘OK, so wear a white shirt and jeans, we’ll be doing some nice beach shots, and then a fun Christmas shoot with you as Santa’.

“I rocked up to the beach shoot and they’re like OK, so we’re dunking you in the surf so the shirt’s see through.

“Then for the Santa shoot I’m expecting a fat suit and a beard and they’re like ‘No, just hat and pants please’.”

The 24-year-old, who is in Fiji filming for Channel 10’s Bachelor in Paradise, took it all in his stride, but said even the muscliest magician is susceptible to self consciousness.

“It’s all fun, I don’t mind,” he said.

“But I’ve been travelling back to back so I haven’t been training and when you add junk food it isn’t a great mix for a summer body.”
