Drama for jetski four

-

A FAMILY of four was rescued by helicopter after their jet ski became stuck in mud for several hours near The Sovereign Islands on Saturday night.

A man and his school-aged children were coming back from a day on the water about 6pm when he took a wrong turn and ended up in a shallow channel between two islands in the elite Gold Coast locale.

After contacting Volunteer Marine Rescue about 7.30pm, Water Police were called.

They tried to rescue the family by climbing through the muddy water, but were unable to reach them.

The police helicopter was then deployed in an effort to track down exactly where the family were before the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter winched them to safety about 10pm. They were each in a stable condition.
