Broncos kitted out, ready

-

THE Broncos are going back to the future in a bid to win their seventh premiership.

Brisbane will celebrate their 30th season in the big league next season by parading a new heritage-style jersey inspired by the strip worn by the Broncos pioneers of 1988.

The 2018 guernsey is a throwback to Brisbane’s foundation season when legends Wally Lewis and Allan Langer donned the first maroon-andgold jumper in the club’s 44-10 rout of Manly at Lang Park.

Brisbane five-eighth Anthony Milford wasn’t even born when Lewis made his Broncos debut but the pair will share a link when the Maroons ace runs out in the No.6 heritage jumper next year.

“The Broncos are a massive club with a famous history. This jumper is also similar to our 2015 one when we made the grand final,” Milford said. “I know a lot of the boys are looking forward to wearing it.

“It’s a big year for the club with the milestone of 30 years, so it’s important we have a good season.”

Brisbane’s six former logos will be on the sleeves, with the 30-year jersey to be worn several times during the season.

The new jumper is expected to be unveiled in Brisbane’s Round 2 derby against the Cowboys and Milford is hoping to be on deck after off-season shoulder surgery.

“I think about the history of the club all the time,” he said.

“Wally and ‘Locky’ (Darren Lockyer) wore this No.6 jersey before me and so every time I put the Broncos jersey on, I try not to let the fans down.”
