Weir brings back stars

-

DARREN Weir’s autumn ambitions will kick into gear this week with some of his stars, including Cox Plate runner-up Humidor and Emirates winner Tosen Stardom, returning to Warrnambool yesterday.

Having been thwarted in his attempt to win the last Group 1 of the calendar season, the Kingston Town Classic in Perth, when Black Heart Bart met with severe interference, Weir and his team will now look to the autumn riches.

Jarrod McLean, Weir’s Warrnambool foreman, confirmed the stable return of Humidor and Tosen Stardom, along with sprinter Brave Smash, who ran third in the Everest behind Redzel and Vega Magic.

“We’ve about eight of them coming back in,” McLean said.

Humidor and Tosen Stardom are returning from the paddock following successful spring campaigns.

“I’m not sure whether an Australian Cup might come around a bit too quick for (Humidor), so maybe it might be a Queen Elizabeth or a BMW for him,” McLean said.
