Charges for dope plants

A MAN has been charged after police located 272 cannabis plants in a home in northern NSW.

Police from Tweed/Byron Local Area Command executed a search warrant at a home in Commission­ers Creek on December 9.

It is alleged officers located a sophistica­ted hydroponic set-up inside the home, 272 cannabis plants worth an estimated street value of $700,000, as well as a significan­t amount of fertiliser and hydroponic equipment.

Police arrested a 19-yearold man on Wednesday.

He was subsequent­ly charged with enhanced indoor cultivatio­n of prohibited plant for commercial purpose, possess prohibited plant – large commercial quantity, take part in supply of cannabis.

The man was refused bail and will next appear in court on December 20.
