GOLD COAST WRAP WITH UBET’S NICOLE THOMAS

-

WINNERS French Descent (Race 4)

David Fletcher certainly found the right race for the fifteen-start maiden French Descent to chalk up his first win. It was an impressive victory by the heavily-supported favourite ($2.80 in to $2.25) as he jumped well, controlled the tempo and raced away.

Massive Attack (Race 7)

In a monumental plunge, plenty of soldiers lined up to fire at the $19 about Massive Attack, crunching him in to $9. The sixyear-old looked like a different gelding this time in, travelling nicely in the run and sweeping down the outside to run the leader down in the final 100m.

LOSERS Angela’s Beauty (Race 1)

Punters got on the chase early when the popular Angela’s Beauty ($3.80 in to $3.10) couldn’t get the job done. The four-year-old mare settled third last and wasn’t suited by the pace, and then over-raced. When the sprint went on, she didn’t have much room so drove through on the inside but weakened out of contention in the final furlong.

Coulthard (Race 6)

Hundreds of avid punters backed Coulthard from $3.80 in to $2.65. You were in real trouble early as the gelding was caught deep, restrained then overraced. The three-year-old seemed to let down well in the straight but the early work told in the final furlong and he weakened into fourth. Don’t discard on that run.

NEXT TIME Adobe Mist (Race 3)

It was hard to miss the eyecatching performance from Adobe Mist. The six-year-old mare was a $9 chance and remained rock solid from her opening quote. She jumped with the pack but got dragged back to last and decided to stick to the inside for the majority of the straight. When she was eventually pulled out widest, she flew home for second.

Secret Sites (Race 5)

Secret Sites was supported in UBET’s early market but drifted heftily from $3.30 out to

$4 on the day. She wasn’t the best away and worked to sit midfield on the fence. She got blocked and tightened in the straight and even looked to ease off heels. After finally seeing daylight, she ran on superbly to grab third.
