COST OF TERROR
AS the law society was pointing out valid concerns for administration of justice, a dreadful incident in Melbourne yesterday demonstrated the need for security at our Commonwealth Games.
The event will be on the radar for terror groups desperate to use it to make a deranged statement. Security officials will be in overdrive to stop any repeat here of the sort of thing that happened yesterday, when a car was used to target pedestrians. This is the frustrating reality of the West’s battle against terror. It cannot defeat us, but protecting the public and institutions erodes budgets and freedoms.
