Jellyfish are deadly

DEADLY stingers have been found off the coast of Fraser Island as surf lifesavers warn beachgoers to remain vigilant this summer.

Queensland life savers discovered the Irukandji jellyfish during a stinger drag at Arch Cliff on Fraser Island on Sunday.

The specimen was sent to Associate Professor Jamie Seymour at James Cook University, who confirmed the species’ identity.

Anyone who is stung should douse the area with vinegar and immediately call triple-0.
