Coast company set to have cash flow after law change

A GOLD Coast manufacturer is filling its pipeline with new work after becoming the first pipe relining company in Australia to be accredited in line with new safety laws which flushed through parliament late last year.

In May last year pipe repair manufacturer Nuflow Techno- logies obtained the prized WaterMark certification granted by the Australian Building Codes Board.

Certification is required under legislation to prevent the use of unsafe building products, which was passed in November.

Founder Ed Ahern said the new laws ensured accredited products were used, as acknowledged under the National Construction Code and Plumbing Code of Australia.

“Non-conforming building products are compromising on quality and can cause safety issues – for example, non-certified material in plumbing systems can not only become a health hazard if they fail, but in extreme cases, can lead to contamination of water supplies,” he said.

“That is why we spent five years achieving WaterMark accreditation for our innovative Blueline product.”

Recent clients of the local business include Hansen Yuncken, who appointed Nuflow to fix several council identified defects at the Carrara Indoor Sports Stadium.

Hansen Yuncken services manager Troy Pastoors said the defective pipes ran under roads and car parks, and had to be fixed ahead of the Commonwealth Games.

“Rather than digging up the carparks and roads, we needed a non-destructive method of pipe rectification,” he said.

“We received approval from the Council to use Blueline technology and within three days the job was complete.” Additional projects include the relining of a copper waste line at Brisbane’s Mater Hospital. 2018
